I’m Allister, a professional Somerset wedding photographer with almost two decades of experience, welcome to my Orchardleigh House wedding photography page.

Just ten miles from the historic Somerset city of Bath lies Orchardleigh Estate, a luxury gated and family-owned estate nestled amidst 500 acres of parkland and lakes. With roots stretching back to the 19th century, Orchardleigh is more than just a beautiful wedding venue. With a romantic island church, 18 hole golf course and a huge 41 rooms big enough to sleep 87 guests, it’s the perfect setting for a lavish wedding celebration without having to miss anyone from your guest list.

I’m Allister, and I’ve been a documentary style wedding photographer for over a decade. I don’t shoot traditionally - you won’t be hanging around for shot after shot of staged poses - instead, I prefer to be as unobtrusive and inconspicuous as possible just to let the day naturally unfold. My particularly natural style of wedding photography captures candid moments that exude emotion and sentimental value. Shooting somewhere as grand as Orchardleigh Estate is a great highlight - let’s get into why the venue is so good.

You can celebrate your wedding for one day or three at Orchardleigh with exclusive use of the venue as if it was your own home. Accommodating up to 162 guests, the venue has a choice of indoor and outdoor spaces which are licenced for civil ceremonies and partnerships, as well as a traditional Parish Church ceremony.

For civil ceremonies, you can make use of The Belvedere, which is a brand new 2019 build which is sympathetic to the original style of the venue. An outdoor space flanked with two tall stone pillars and light hues, it’s a perfect location to say ‘I do’ whilst enjoying the beautiful views across the estate. For something indoors, The Ballroom is a luxurious choice with elegant architecture and gold detailing, with a bright chandelier as the centrepiece. Seating 100 guests, you can exchange your vows against the backdrop of ornate windows and a sprawling view out onto the estate.

Perfect for keeping warm during the winter wedding season, The Great Hall seats up to 144 guests and offers a real fairytale experience, with a grand sweeping staircase leading onto the aisle to make the bride’s entrance as special as possible. Complete with large open fires, the Great Hall creates a cosy ambience whilst retaining all the charm of the building with rich wooden hues and finishes.

Getting married at Orchardleigh House?

Elizabeth and Tim’s Somerset Wedding at Orchardleigh House

Elizabeth and Tim’s wedding in late October was absolutely beautiful. It was an exceptionally dark wedding due to the time of year and also because Orchardleigh House is generally very dark inside. Many photographers would see this as a negative but I often prefer darker weddings. The darker venues often have a more intimate environment to work in where I can become even more discreet. This is why Orchardleigh is my favourite wedding venue in the area.

That said, and as you can see from the galleries below, I work at Orchardleigh throughout the year. It’s always a great venue to work at and weddings held there are always of a more relaxed and fun nature.
